2013 KX85 II

2013 KX85 Big Wheel - Mini-powerhouse

For the growing, young rider ready to step it up to the next level or slightly older beginners looking to start racing, the Kawasaki KX85 II is a youth racer’s dream. Powered by a liquid-cooled, two-stroke, single-cylinder 84.6 cm³ engine that generates race-winning power, the KX85 II is packed with high-tech features such as an electrofusion-coated cylinder with a narrow squish band and large-volume combustionchamber to boost top-end power.

High-Performance-2-Stroke-E

High-Performance 2-Stroke Engine

The KX85-II’s liquid-cooled, two-stroke, single-cylinder 84cm³ engine has got the mumbo to get you to the front of the pack and keep you there. Featuring an Electrofusion-coated cylinder, 28mm PWK carburettor and carbon fibre reeds, it pumps out a broad range of strong, usable power.

A lightweight flywheel with rare-earth magnets enhances low-end engine response while Carbon Fibre reeds aid throttle response. The direction of
the fibre is at a 45° angle to tune the flexibility of the reeds for precise response.

Front-and-Rear-Disc-Brakes

Front and Rear Disc Brakes

The brake rotors use shouldered hex bolts instead of countersunk screws for easier maintenance.

The forged aluminum rear brake pedal uses two recessed O-rings instead of seals for improved sealing.

Uni-Trak-Rear-Suspension

Uni-Trak Rear Suspension

The rear suspension settings provide a progressive ride to better resist bottoming and accommodate larger, more aggressive riders.

Black-Alumnite-Rims

Black Alumnite Rims

The KX85-II’s large 19” front wheel (17” on KX85) and 17” rear wheel (14” on KX85) give it greater obstacle roll-over ability, extra ground clearance and a higher seat height for the taller rider. The KX85-II also comes standard with black alumnite rims just like its bigger brothers, the KX450F and KX250F.

36mm-Inverted-cartridge-for

36mm Inverted cartridge forks

36mm inverted cartridge forks utilise a 49.5mm upper tube for increased rigidity and better steering response and control.

18-way compression damping adjustment enables precise dialling-in to suit a range of rider requirements.

Keihin-PWK28-Carburetor

Keihin PWK28 Carburetor

The crescent shaped slide enables the needle to sit closer to the intake ports for quick throttle response.

Large bores in the front and back of the carburetor and a
smooth shape boost flow for more mid-range and top-endpower.

Air-box

Air Box

The right side of the airbox is cut back to increase airflow and draw air from behind the number plate as well as below the seat.

A large diameter boot from the airbox to the carburetor improves airflow.

Ignition

Digital Capacitor Discharge Ignition (CDI)

Digital ECU precisely controls timing, no matter how fast the RPM changes.

KX85II_ACTION_2

6-Speed Transmission

The KX’s smooth-shifting six-speed transmission offers a positive shifting action along with rugged durability thanks to hard chromed shift forks and new bushings added to the second, third and fourth gears on the output shaft.

High-tensile steel perimeter frame

Setting the KX85-II apart from the competition is its advanced, high-tensile steel perimeter frame. Its increased rigidity and lower centre of gravity (Thanks to a centralised fuel tank) adds up to superior handling and rider feedback.

Kawasaki Integrated Power Valve System

The KIPS system varies exhaust port height for increased horsepower and torque. A breather in KIPS cover relieves exhaust pressure for more precise KIPS valve action and improved high rpm performance. KIPS lever stopper spring absorbs governor “over stroke” for added durability. The KIPS governor has a long stroke to open the cylinder valves more fully. A governor spring and 8 mm bearing boss aid durability.

Clutch

Thick base at the clutch housing fingers for increased durability. The right hand engine cover provides a separate clutch cover for quick servicing without removing the water pump.

Optional Parts

Optional parts include, various carburettor jets, front and rear springs, rear sprockets and wet weather brake discs.
