Kawasaki rider Luke Burgess is the 2012 Australian 250cc Production Class champion. Luke wrapped up the championship with another round win at the final round of the ASBK series at Queensland Raceway yesterday (16 September) on board his Kawasaki Ninja 250R.

18 year old Luke was the dominant rider in the class all series, winning all 5 rounds of the championship on-board his Ninja 250R. Luke took 1-2-2 results at the final round at QLD to win the round and the championship. Luke won the championship with a large 56 point buffer.

The 5th and final round of the series saw the Kawasaki Ninja 250R on all three steps of the podium with Queenslander Jack Baker (son of Crazy Dogs Kawasaki Dealership Principal Richard Baker) taking 2nd place and South Australian Evan Byles (SA Motorcycles Dealership Principal) taking 3rd. The Ninja’s results in QLD were particularly good timing with the release last week of the new and exciting 2013 Kawasaki Ninja 300, a model destined for great things in Australia and around the world.

With a load of National and State dirt track titles under his belt (all won on Kawasaki KX motorcycles), Luke Burgess was excited to claim his first National road race title, saying, “This is a great result for myself, Mackay Kawasaki and Kawasaki Australia. Whatever rule changes they threw at us this season, the Ninja 250R still came out on top every time. I’m so happy to be the Australian champion and win a National road race title.”

“The Ninja 250R performed brilliantly throughout the entire series. My dad, Dale Burgess, who’s the owner of Mackay Kawasaki, made sure my bike was just right every round and he’s been a great support as has all my family, sponsors and support crew. I hope that this title is the first of many. I look forward to winning more races and titles on Kawasaki.”

Kawasaki congratulates Luke Burgess on his outstanding championship victory. Kawasaki is confident that Luke will continue to achieve winning results in 2013 and beyond.
