Racing News |
On April 27th, we traveled down to Gillman, SA (from NSW) for the ProMX, where the 2nd round of the Women's Championship was held. Having never ridden in SA before, I was excited to get out amongst the action, expecting quite a deep track.
Qualifying: Qualifying didn’t exactly go to plan. An early tip-over and cartwheeling in one of my practice laps meant I had to kick into gear pretty quickly and try to get some acceptable laps in. Being early in the morning, the sun was an additional challenge for vision, but nonetheless, we managed a 17th qualifying position.
Moto 1: I set myself up for a great run with a decent top-half start off the gate. Unfortunately, lacking a bit of aggression and making a couple of mistakes, I finished in 16th.
Moto 2: I got another decent jump off the gate and sat in 14th for most of the race, where I started to find a bit of flow. Really enjoying the opportunity to work through a rough track, I finished in 15th.
Reflection: It was another really valuable experience and was definitely worth it. I am really enjoying my time so far stepping up to the women’s category this year, and racing these national-level ladies is only going to make me a stronger racer. We will take the positives away and keep working towards where I know I can be.
