The Penrite Racing Empire Kawasaki Team pushed through a tough day of racing at Round 5 of the 2025 ProMX Championship in Warwick, Queensland. Despite challenging track conditions and coming off a difficult Round 4, both Luke Clout and Rhys Budd showed strong determination and progress as the season hits the second half.
MX1 Class – Luke Clout Battles Back
Luke Clout returned to action after missing Round 4. He qualified 5th in the MX1 class and, despite some bike setup issues in the SuperPole session (finishing 8th), he found better rhythm once racing began.
Moto 1: Finished 7th
Moto 2: Improved to 5th
Overall: 6th for the round
Championship Standing: 6th heading into Round 6
“I struggled with bike settings early on, but we made some big changes after SuperPole. It took time to adjust, but we improved throughout the day. I’m looking forward to Canberra – the hard-pack suits me better,” said Clout
MX2 Class – Rhys Budd Shows Heart
Rhys Budd made a determined return from injury. He qualified 10th in MX2, but a crash at the start of Moto 1 forced him to fight back through the field.
Moto 1: Finished 11th after a first-turn crash
Moto 2: Finished 10th
Overall: 10th for the round
“It was a frustrating day. I had good speed but struggled with intensity after time off. I’m aiming to get more bike time before Canberra to be fully race-fit,” said Budd.
Team Owner Tyson Cherry on the Team’s Effort.
“We made gains today under tough conditions. Both Luke and Rhys dug deep, and the progress they made will pay off in the coming rounds. We’re proud of the effort and will be regrouping to come out swinging in Canberra.”
The ProMX Championship heads to Canberra, ACT for Round 6 on Sunday, 6th July 2025.
