Clout Claim Podium at Redcliffe AUSX Opener

The 2025 AUSX (Australian Supercross) Championship kicked off with a bang at Kayo Stadium in Redcliffe, QLD, hosting back-to-back rounds in a high-intensity double header format.

Penrite Racing Empire Kawasaki opened the season with a strong showing as Luke Clout claimed 2nd Overall in SX1 at Round 1.

Returning as one of Australia’s top SX1 contenders, Luke Clout made his intentions clear from the start of Round 1. After logging fast laps in qualifying and heat races, Clout was caught in first-lap chaos in both 10-lap finals, yet fought back impressively to finish 2nd and 3rd, earning 2nd Overall on the night.

“I rode tight in the finals and found myself in a lot of trouble in the opening laps, some of my own mistakes and some from other riders”.

“Considering the chaos, to get on the podium at Round 1 with 2nd Overall is great and I’ll take it,” commented Clout.

Round 2 was more challenging for Clout. A first-turn crash in Final 1 resulted in a damaged bike and DNF, followed by an 11th in Final 2. He leaves Redcliffe 9th in SX1 Championship points.

In the SX2 class, Rhys Budd delivered two steady rides across the weekend, finishing 9th Overall at Round 1 and 8th Overall at Round 2. Budd sits 9th in the SX2 Championship standings after the opening weekend.

The AUSX heads to Sydney for Round 3.
