Challenging Toowoomba Round For Penrite Racing Empire Kawasaki

Round 4 of the Australian ProMX Championship in Toowoomba proved to be a challenging weekend for Penrite Racing Empire Kawasaki, with only Dean Ferris lining up aboard the KX450 as teammate Brad West continues his recovery following surgery to address ongoing issues. West is recovering well, and the team remains hopeful he will return for Round 5 at Appin.

The day began positively for Ferris, who battled the tough and ever-changing track conditions throughout qualifying. The experienced rider put together a series of solid laps to secure fourth place overall, once again earning his place in the Top 10 Shootout.

Heading into the Shootout, Ferris continued to demonstrate impressive speed aboard the Penrite Racing Empire Kawasaki KX450, setting fast and consistent laps to finish the session in third position, just 0.2 seconds shy of pole position.

Moto 1 showed early promise, with Ferris launching strongly off the gate and sitting inside the top three heading into the opening turn. Unfortunately, chaos unfolded in the first corner when a multi-rider pile-up occurred, with Ferris heavily caught up in the incident and going down hard. As a result of the crash, he was unable to complete the moto.

Following the incident, Ferris was attended to by the RaceSafe medical crew before being transported to hospital for precautionary scans.

Further updates on Ferris’ condition are expected in the coming days. However, early signs are positive, with reports indicating the rider is mainly battered and bruised and aiming to return for Round 5 of the championship at Appin.
