With the new edition to the ASBK Championship, the Supersport Next Gen class, BCperformance Kawasaki teammates Tom Edwards and Hayden Nelson continued their season-long title fight aboard the Kawasaki ZX-6R.
Edwards claimed victory in Race 1 before backing it up with second place in Race 2, while Nelson secured second and third-place finishes across the weekend. The pair now occupy first and second in the championship standings respectively, with Edwards leading on 188 points and Nelson close behind on 184.
With one round remaining at Queensland Raceway, Kawasaki remains firmly in control of the inaugural Supersport Next Gen championship battle.
Team manager Kelvin Reilly had this to say about the great outcome over the weekend:
Well what can I say, our weekend at Morgan Park started with both riders having some unfortunate crashes in their Ninja ZX-6R's that gave the team some work to do, and with the lack of testing beforehand and Friday being a wash out meant we was on the back foot. Come race day though both Tom and Hayden dug deep to produce some sensational racing to claim a 1-2 in race one and a 2-3 in race two, meaning the team claimed the Asbk Supersport Teams championship with one round to go! Well done team and thank you to Kawasaki and all our partners.
We now head to the final round where the the riders championship will be fought out between just Tom and Hayden with just 4 points separating them, bring it on!"
