Penrite Racing Kawasaki Closes Out ProMX Championship With Strong QMP Finish

Penrite Racing Empire Kawasaki wrapped up the 2026 ProMX Championship at Queensland Moto Park over the weekend, with Ryan Alexanderson delivering a pair of consistent top-five finishes and Brad West forced to make the difficult decision to sit out the final moto as he continues to battle ongoing arm issues.

The two-day season finale saw the MX1 field take to the track on Saturday for practice and qualifying, before returning to action on Sunday for Superpole and the final two motos of the championship.

Alexanderson showed strong pace from the opening session, finishing eighth fastest in Saturday morning's practice with a best lap of 1:54.974. He backed that up with another eighth-place result in qualifying, setting a 1:53.256 lap to secure his position inside the top ten for Sunday's Superpole.

West, meanwhile, continued to manage the arm issues that have hampered his season. The Queensland rider posted the 13th-fastest time in practice before improving to 11th in qualifying with a 1:56.023 lap.

Sunday morning's Superpole saw Alexanderson once again finish eighth fastest, recording a 1:49.879 lap to maintain his position on the third row for the opening moto. Scattered weather added another element to Sunday's racing, with rain beginning to fall in the lead-up to Moto 1 before clearing as the gate dropped and the field launched into the opening race.

Alexanderson made the most of the conditions to put together a strong opening moto. Running inside the top five throughout the race, the #63 Kawasaki rider brought his KX 450 home in fifth position, finishing just over 40 seconds behind the race winner.

West battled through the opening moto despite the ongoing discomfort in his arms, completing 14 laps to finish 18th. With the final moto of the 2026 ProMX Championship approaching, West made the difficult decision not to line up for Moto 2, prioritising his health after continuing to struggle with the issue throughout the weekend.

West explained that he feels the surgery he underwent to address the problem has not delivered the improvement he had hoped for, and that he believes it may have potentially made the issue worse. With the championship season now complete, the focus will turn to finding a solution to the ongoing problem before returning to racing.

Alexanderson, meanwhile, got the perfect launch in Moto 2, powering his Penrite Racing Empire Kawasaki to the holeshot as the final race of the championship got underway. The #63 rider settled into the lead battle early before ultimately bringing the KX 450 home in fifth position for his second top-five finish of the day.

With two fifth-place results, Alexanderson closed out the final round with a strong and consistent performance, while the team now turns its attention to the break and preparing for the 2026 Australian Supercross Championship starting in October.
