Responsive and reliable, the normally aspirated, liquid-cooled 1,498 cc, In-Line 4-cylinder marine engine balances its high performance with clean emissions, good fuel economy, and family-friendly power delivery.
Select the Right Power
Riders can select from Full, Middle and Low Power Operation, as well as Smart Learning Operation (SLO)-Mode.
With Full Power Operation (FPO), engine output is unrestricted, allowing riders to experience the full potential of the engine. Middle Power Operation (MPO) offers the same power as FPO with a milder acceleration. Low Power Operation (LPO) is milder still and restricts engine output to 74 kW (101 PS).
Smart Learning Operation (SLO)-Mode function allows riders to become familiar with the handling and response of the Jet Ski watercraft at a more relaxed pace before operating their STX 160 Series model at full power.

Adjustable Electronic Cruise Control
Highly convenient for long-distance cruising, this mode fixes speed (rpm) at the level specified. Cruising speed is easily adjusted with the push of button. This is now a feature on all models in the STX 160 Series.
One-Touch 5 mph Mode regulates engine speed to maintain a forward speed of 5 mph (8 km/h). This handy mode is used in “No Wake” zones.

The STX models have always been strong all-round personal watercraft, the Ninja supersport-based engine offering responsive performance balanced with good fuel economy and smooth, family-friendly power delivery. With the 2026 model year updates, they will be even more comfortable to ride and give the rider even more pleasure on the water than ever before.
Compact STX Hull
The STX hull has been a mainstay in Kawasaki’s PWC lineup for many years, and for good reason. The lightweight, nimble-handling hull is ideally suited to sporty riding, providing the fun on the water riders are looking for in this class.
Enhanced Ride Comfort
The front bumper serves as a splash guard to both prevent water from contacting the rider when in motion, and to reduce the amount of water able to get into the foot wells for a more comfortable ride.
Electric Trim Control
This convenient system allows the angle of the jet pump nozzle to be controlled electrically (seven positions: STD +/- three positions), making it easier for riders to adjust the attitude of the hull to suit water surface conditions and riding style.

STX PLATFORM: HANDLINGLight & Agile
Having fun and sporty riding in calm water is the purview of the STX 160 Series. The proven hull helps the STX 160 excel in this area, while new features for 2026 give riders an even more comfortable, enjoyable riding experience.
7” TFT Display
Large, easy-to-read 7” full-colour TFT instrumentation offers multiple display modes, jog-dial control, Bluetooth connectivity, and infotainment features. It also looks great as the first thing the rider sees every time they get on their Jet Ski, adding to pride of ownership.
KSRD (Kawasaki Smart Reverse with Deceleration)
Kawasaki Smart Reverse with Deceleration electrically deploys the reverse bucket. Activated with a thumb switch on the right handle, it enables thrust to be controlled with one hand. When fully deployed, the reverse bucket contributes to deceleration.
Rearview Camera
A rearview camera mounted aft of the rear seat offers riders a supplemental rearward view behind the Jet Ski. The camera can be monitored via the instrument panel, and is convenient when towing a waterskier or wakeboarder, or when docking.
Broader staging platform
On STX 160LX-S and 160LX models, an Extended Rear Deck—110 mm longer than the standard rear deck of the STX 160R—offers a broader staging platform for water play, and more room for stowing gear.
Like the standard rear deck, a retractable, wide re-boarding step facilitates climbing on board from in the water. The step retracts inside the bumper to help prevent damage.
Multi-Mount Rails built into the deck accommodate accessory slide mounts to provide convenient tie-down points.

2-Speaker Audio System
An improved version of Kawasaki’s original PWC audio system, the JETSOUND audio system features two speakers, jog-dial control and Bluetooth connectivity. It is standard equipment on the STX 160LX.

Sport-Type Handlebar
The combination of an ERGO-FIT motocross-style handlebar with adjustable height, round grips and a handlebar pad not only look aggressive and sporty, but also function well for sporty riding, making the R model even more enjoyable to control.
Sport seating for Two
The R model’s seat is based on the LXury Seat, but with added support cushioning inspired by supersport motorcycles. It was designed to hold two riders. Its material is high-grip to offer additional hold under acceleration and sporty riding.
